Green Aqilla
Here is the magnificent Aqilla, viewed from above. The figure appears distorted, but in fact the apparent distortion is caused by the extreme foreshortening.
There are two versions of the picture: this green one, and one in natural flesh tones. I prefer this one (though Aqilla may not) because it adds a suggestion of magic and/or fantasy. It’s vaguely eerie, yet strangely appealing.
In my personal interpretation, we are looking at a mermaid or siren, or possibly a water nymph. She is taking a break beneath the waves before returning to the job of seducing foolish mariners and luring them to watery graves.
I am pretty sure that Aqilla is no supernatural enchantress. All the same, a man would be a fool to underestimate her powers.
